2019 - 2020

In 2019, Znaniye Foundation was awarded the Young Ealing Foundations Supplementary School Grants Programme. The grants programme is designed to raise the attainment levels of children and young people in Ealing by providing learning opportunities in core curriculum subjects such as Maths, English, Science and IT.

Through this, Znaniye Foundation

launched accessible, low cost drop

in Maths Tuition Sessions

in the Ealing Borough for

students aged 3 - 15.

Our aim was to provide Maths drop-in sessions that are affordable and give children access to opportunities and support in a safe environment so they can truly fulfil their potential. Research proves that especially students from low-income backgrounds who do not receive access to additional learning support later struggle more with GCSE/ A-Levels and admissions to Universities.

We want to equip students with the knowledge their schools require,

so that they can later in life have the choice of various opportunities.

In March 2020, when Covid-19 Pandemic hit the UK, and in turn the lockdown began meaning all schools and sessions had to be shut, we knew we had two options; 1 - to stop running our sessions and restart once we were able to, or 2 - move the entire operation online and continue. We chose to continue, and expand.

We were incredibly pleased to have local teachers come on board, including SEND Practitioners, Preschool Specialists, and Secondary School Maths teachers to help us to continue to bring Maths to Students, in a time when it was needed more than ever - with schools closed and students having no access to help and tuition for an undefined amount of time.

Students of all ages have joined us online since them for maths lessons for different ages,.

2021

Year  Two - Bigger and Better than ever.

Following the continued demand and the success of the model, within the report to our funders of this programme, Young Ealing Foundation,

we discussed our desire and hope to run this project again

but on a larger scale. Our goal was to host more core topics, both

online, and in-person in even more locations.

We were delighted to announce that we have been awarded

the Supplementary Schools Grant for the second year!

From January 2021 we began running Maths sessions for

even more ages, including early years and exams levels.

Following this increase in sessions, demand sustained

support from Young Ealing Foundation, we expanded the

project to cover all core subjects - Maths, English and Science.

As sessions run each week for students signed up, it means we are able to work with each student within the group session. This allows us to track progress, plan topics to cover and aid them in areas they aren't confident in or struggle with.

As we are constantly working to provide more age groups for the core subjects (Maths, English and Science), we hope to have more slowly added to the schedule, on our Events page, to sign up to. With limited spacing, we suggest you get a space as soon as you can!

2022-2023/24

Year 3 -
Back in Person

Following hybrid learning over the past couple of years, in the 2022 - 2023 school year, we took the project entirely offline, and ran it alongside our Saturday Club each week, in the heart of Ealing Broadway.

We have always been privileged to be joined by fantastic tutors and teachers, and this year was no different. We had been able to welcome two fantastic new teachers to the team who has taken the sessions to new heights!

Each Saturday we have been able to host an hour of lessons for  5 different groups!

Years 5 - 6, 7 - 8, 9 - 10 plus GCSE and drop in. Students have been able to access support based on their key stages, as well as bring in homework and topics they need particular support on.

Alongside this, through science students have had the opportunity to learn through experiments and physical learning! From making and flying parachutes for eggs in physics to making popcorn dance in chemistry.

So far in the 2023 - 2024 school year, we have already expanded this offering. Not only do our Maths Sessions continue each week, with more sign ups than ever before - we have also partnered with Ealing Libraries to offer high quality, free tuition to GCSE Science students in the borough, hosted in person each Saturday at the various Ealing Libraries. Following an initial round of 5 sessions in September, we are proud to have continued this throughout October due to its success and positive feedback!
