Previous Camps
Since our 2020 Online Ealing Summer School during the first Covid-19 lockdown and its subsequent school closures, our Summer Camps have been one of our most anticipated events of each year! Since the creation of the Government HAF Scheme (Holiday Activities and Food Programme) we have been lucky enough to receive their funding to support our camps across multiple boroughs.
The HAF Programme allows local charities and organisations across England the chance to run additional provisions during out-of-school time, for children in receipt of Benefits Related Free School Meals. Research has shown that the school holidays can be pressure points for some families - for some children, this can lead to a holiday experience gap, with children from low-income households being:
-
less likely to access organised out-of-school activities
-
more likely to experience ‘unhealthy holidays’ in terms of nutrition and physical health
-
more likely to experience social isolation

Activities and Schedule
Our 2022 Summer Camp ran for 4 days this Summer, the 15 - 18th of August, in the borough of Ealing. Hosted at one of our regular venues, which have been a great support of our charity - St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger.
As always, each and every day we had 3 different activities which all children rotate between, alongside outdoor play, games, and lunch! Our fantastic Camp Managers carefully planned stimulating activities each day that worked to enhance the mental, physical and social well-being of the children. In addition to the activities, the children took turns in the cooking of the fresh lunch each day, which was catered to all allergies and restrictions.
Activities this year included:
- Cooking
- Drama
- Creating our own hand and feet hopscotch
- Straw Airplanes and dynamics
- Flower arranging and stain-glass panes
- Clay modelling + painting
- Salt Painting
- Alphabet reimagination
- Creating our own games
- Bubble Wands and more
