English for Ages 11-13 / KS3 at 4:30PM

In this 4th session - part of a 10 session course every week, KS3 course on Romeo & Juliet - we will be meeting Juliet. 

Students will be introduced to Juliet and make judgments on her character.

• Discuss how Juliet is first introduced (via her father)
• Discuss the importance of “The Male Gaze”
• Explore the theme of gender in this scene
• Examine the use of language by the men in Juliet’s life
• Debate the goodness of Lord Capulet as a father
• Discuss how Juliet is presented when me actually meet her
• Explore Juliet’s language and role, and how she represents true love
• Debate the role of the Nurse
• Compare the Nurse with Lady Capulet in terms of parent child dynamics
• Analyse the audience response to these scenes
